London’s calling

In 5 days, our Sales Director, Billy, will be donning his penguin suit and heading to London for the prestigious 2018 Packaging Awards.

The biggest night in the packaging industry’s calendar celebrates the very best companies, packs and individuals in the industry, and we’re honoured to be shortlisted for an award – Glass Pack of the Year, in partnership with The Ardargh Group – for our client St. Austell Brewery’s new lightweight, 500ml embossed bottle.

What a beauty

right

The objective was to create a bottle that celebrates the brewery’s history whilst carrying a bold new contemporary look. The shape of the bottle was specifically designed for St. Austell, whilst adding height to create standout, and ‘St. Austell’, the brewery’s home heavily embossed around the shoulder.

It was an exciting brief that presented several technical challenges, not least around what is feasible with heavy lettering embossed on a lightweight bottle, but it allowed us to stretch our creative legs, once we won the tender.

There was some strong competition vying for this project but due to our expertise in delivering bespoke work and our reputation in the industry we secured the job, and we’re extremely proud of the result.

Rawlings was able to expertly articulate our vision for the new bottles and we're delighted with the result.

The overhaul of the bottles followed the launch of the biggest ever marketing campaign for flagship beer Tribute. Launched in the summer of last year and designed to bring to life the brand’s strong provenance and taste credentials, all activity communicates the proposition – Quality that speaks for itself.

I thought you were just a glass distributor?

Once upon a time that was certainly true, but we’ve been trading since 1850 and our business has organically evolved over this period to include every aspect of packaging development. Our expertise now covers bespoke bottle and jar creation, graphic and brand design, and decoration; allowing us to produce stand-out packaging for clients of all sizes. Why not take a look at some of our other projects here.

Being a glass distributor way back when has however created a strong foundation for us and our clients. Nurturing these relationships with our manufacturing partners has allowed us to provide one of the largest portfolios of glass in the industry, as well as influencing our partners when it comes to bespoke projects, as St. Austell Brewery demonstrate in our client video testimonial. Check it out by here.

Having somebody like Rawlings who understands the market strongly and has built relationships with manufacturers helped us get to a level that we probably wouldn’t have been able to achieve on our own.

So, wish us luck, and if you’re looking to create standout packaging why not give us a call.
