Great Taste 2021

Good food, good drinks, and great taste. A winning combination. The Great Taste awards have been announced for 2021 and there are lots of worthy winners, trust us!

You may have seen the Great Taste sticker dotted around your local shops over the years, but have you ever wondered what it means? This proudly displayed sticker comes with a trusted seal of approval, promoting confidence and commercial awareness for quality food and drink businesses, from independent retailers to large scale corporations. Since 1994, more than 150,000 products have been tried, tested, and judged. It is a vigorous process that involves the product being blind tested by a wide selection of volunteers, including food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, retailers, buyers, and writers. The product is judged on taste, ingredients, texture, and aroma. Does it taste great?

So, if you see a product with this sticker of approval, you are guaranteed fantastic flavours and an incredible product.

London Fermentary Great Taste Winners

In the spring of 2017 the founder of London Fermentary, Elena, experimented with small quantities of seasonal Lacto-ferments and Water Kefir, which resulted in London Fermentary being born. Since then, and particularly through the global pandemic, the world of food fermentation has taken the UK by storm.

Since people came out of lockdown, there’s been different buying habits along with growing awareness of fermented foods. Over the last year, more interest in their own health has resulted in increased demand. – Matt, London Fermentary.

The introduction to The Great Taste Awards came about when a mutual friend of Elena’s saw the quality in her products, equal enthusiasm and praise would be shared by the judges. Since winning the awards, there has been a noticeable impact on sales, especially on products where the public can see the Great Taste Award sticker on the products, and on the shelves.

As well as the great taste, it is easy to admire the overall packaging design chosen to complement the products. At Rawlings, we continue to enjoy working alongside the team at London Fermentary (since 2019). It is reassuring to hear that the UK wide glass packaging services we supply have helped them to get to where they are today.

We've always had a good impression of Rawlings and had a good relationship. It's quite easy to get in touch with someone and order things generally. You've got things in stock or if not, you can source them. – Matt, London Fermentary

As a glass packaging specialist in the UK, we spend a lot of time thinking about the way a product looks and how it complements the contents inside. After years of seeing the Great Taste Awards stickers dotted around our local supermarket, we are always very proud to supply and work with many of the winners and see them get the recognition they deserve. Congratulations to you all!
